Safety Glass

Grade A safety glass according to the Australian Glass and Glazing standards AS1288 is glass which is designed and manufactured so it reduces the likelihood of causing serious injury to a person if it was to be broken by human contact. Grade A Safety Glass falls into 2 categories, Laminated glass and toughened glass which can be installed in both commercial and residential properties.

Laminated
Laminated Glass is two pieces of float glass that is bonded together with a plastic interlayer. This structure of glass is made so when it breaks the glass panel will hold together in one piece. Laminated glass can be clear, obscured, or tinted types of glass.
Toughened
Toughened glass is float glass that has been toughened. The toughening process is where glass is heated and cooled in a particular way. This results in glass being 4-5 times stronger than the regular annealed (float glass) of the same thickness. This glass shatters into tiny pieces when it breaks. Toughened glass can come in clear, obscure, and tinted glass types. Where light transmission and visibility is important. General glazing such as; Windows, Balustrades, Facades, Partitions, Shower Screens, Doors, Overhead Glazing, Splashbacks
